MUSEUM PASSES
Museum Passes – Sponsored by the Friends of the Library
North Salem is surrounded by many world-class museums. You can visit some of these free of charge by simply going to the library and checking out passes to the museums with your Ruth Keeler Memorial Library card. It is as easy as checking out a book: just ask for the passes at the front desk. You may call the library to reserve a pass for a particular week up to a month in advance. We strongly recommend visiting the museum’s website for their hours of operation.
- Passes must be returned to the front desk within 7 days.
- Passes may not be returned to any other library, or put in the book drop.
- It is possible to renew a pass for an additional week, provided no one else is waiting for it, by calling the library.
- Loss of a museum pass will result in you being charged the full replacement cost.
Please be aware that passes are only good for admission to the museums and any special events or exhibitions may cost an additional fee.
The Hammond Museum & Japanese Stroll Garden
The Hammond Museum is located at 28 Deveau Road, North Salem, NY. The Japanese Stroll Garden provides a place of natural beauty and tranquility, to delight the senses and refresh the spirit. It is a place where aspects of Eastern and Western culture can be appreciated through art exhibitions, concerts, special 2010 Events and educational programs in order to promote global awareness and understanding. The museum also supports the efforts of artists and performers in the Greater New York Metropolitan Region.

Guggenheim Museum
The Guggenheim Museum is located at 1071 Fifth Avenue New York, NY 10128
(at 88th Street).

Admits: Free express admission for up to 4 adults or students, plus $5 admission for a maximum of 2 additional guests. Children under 12 years of age are always free.

The Katonah Museum of Art
Accredited by the American Association of Museums, the Katonah Museum of Art originates ten to twelve exhibitions annually, covering a broad range of art and humanities topics. As a non-collecting Museum, the KMA has the opportunity to develop an aspect of art historical concern from a focused and original point of view and presents it within a fully developed educational context. Committed to making itself accessible and relevant to its community, the Museum offers lectures, symposiums, films, workshops, concerts, and other events for a general audience; and presents innovative and substantive programs for its member schools. The Children’s Learning Center, which is open to the public free of charge, is the only interactive space in the community where children can come on a daily basis to explore, interpret, and create art.

American Museum of Natural History
The American Museum of Natural History is the largest natural history museum in the world with a mission commensurately monumental in scope. The entire museum spans 4 city blocks and consists of some 25 interconnected buildings. Though today the phrase “natural history” is restricted to the study of animal life, the museum—founded in 1869 on the heels of discoveries by Darwin and other Victorians—uses it in its original sense: that is, the study of all natural objects, animal, vegetable and mineral.
Friends of the Library have purchased 50 passes to the museum.
North Salem families/groups are entitled to 2 passes per family, per calendar year.

Storm King Art Center
Storm King Art Center is a 500-acre outdoor museum located in New York’s Hudson Valley, where visitors experience large-scale sculpture and site-specific commissions under open sky. Since 1960, Storm King has been dedicated to stewarding the hills, meadows, and forests of its site and surrounding landscape. Building on the visionary thinking of its founders, Storm King supports artists and some of their most ambitious works. Changing exhibitions, programming, and seasons offer discoveries with every visit.
Admits: 2 Adults and all children under age 18 living in the same household
