The History Book group will be reading three books in July, August and September on the origins of Modern China. This group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at the library at 7:00. It is free, open to anyone, requires no registration and welcomes newcomers. The are copies of the books for you to borrow at the library.

July 11, 2023  –  Autumn in the Heavenly Kingdom: China, the West and the Epic Story of the Taiping Civil War by Stephen Platt

August 8th – Empress Dowager Cixi: The Concubine who launched Modern China by Jung Chang

September 12th – Country Driving: A Journey through China from Farm to Factory by Peter Hessler
