Author Talk, Slow Birding by Joan Strassmann, co-sponsored by the NSOLF
Joan Strassmann will discuss her acclaimed new book, Slow Birding: The Art and Science of Enjoying the Birds in Your Backyard. Strassmann is an award-winning professor of biology and animal behavior at Washington University. This is not simply a guide to birds. Instead, she looks at their environment, history, and behaviors and how they change with the season encouraging readers to slow down and appreciate the spectacular birds around them. For example, did you know that white brows on a male white-throated sparrow indicate he is likely to be a philanderer?
This Zoom program is co-sponsored with the North Salem Open Land Foundation.
