This wonderful, compelling, quirky book looks at Iceland’s elves (50 % of Icelanders believe in them) and how we interact with nature. It was a New York Times Editor’s Choice.

Nancy Marie Brown is a cultural historian and author of numerous books on the Vikings and Iceland and has written for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Economist, and the Times Literary Supplement.
